| How To Create Network Connections in Windows XP Here's How:
- From the Start menu, select Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections.
- Right click on the Wireless Network Connection and choose Properties.
- Next click the Wireless Networks Tab.
- Make sure the "Use Windows to Configure my Wireless Network Settings" checkbox is checked.
- Under the Preferred Networks area click the ADD button.
- To set up your wireless profile, enter the network name into the Network Name(SSID) field. The SSID should be provided by the wireless service provider.
- If you are connecting to a DHCP server, you don't have to specify an IP address or enable WEP. This information should be provided by the wireless service provider.
- If you are not using a DHCP server you will need to specify an IP address or enable WEP encryption.
- While in the 'Wireless Network Connection Properties' dialog box, ensure the name of the network you want to connect to is highlighted, then click the Advanced button.
- Ensure the 'Access point (infrastructure) networks only' radio button is selected.
- Close all dialog boxes. Your wireless configuration is ready.
